Lay of the Land

Monique has been an environmental activist speaking on behalf of the planet since she was 16 years old. A journey that involved starting the environmental club in high school to a career in ornithological field work and conservation, has brought her around the world and back again where she landed squarely in the Terra Firma of the Southwest in Durango, Colorado.

After two decades of conservation work on behalf of the earth’s land, water, and air, Monique found, through personal reflection and breathwork, the experience of inner healing in order to take the next step in healing the planet.

Through Outspoken Planet, Monique provides support and guidance for those also wishing to heal their lives in order to be a force for good for the planet. This is a new form of radical environmental activism.

Monique has been instrumental in developing environmental and social initiatives for non-profit organizations such as the Southern Rockies Ecosystem Project, Western Environmental Law Center, Chama Peak Land Alliance, Local First, and now through her current role at Table to Farm Compost.

There is an increasing imperative to speak out to protect the things we love. Through her 1:1 breathwork offerings, sacred earth ceremonies, wilderness retreats, and creative writing, Monique brings compassion and her love for the earth into existence.

The creative writing journey begins with the non-fiction short story, “The Ultimate Cosmic Escape Room” - a wild and unexpected journey from New Jersey to Durango, Colorado. Check it out and sign up to receive more creative writings by filling out the blog form below.
